Study of dental and skeletal maturation and investigation of their relationship in Greek adolescents with normal occlusion. Keywords: Dental maturation , skeletal maturation , Greek adolescents , normal occlusion Abstract: Sixty-three panoramic and 63 hand-wrist radiographs were evaluated in order to investigate dental and skeletal maturation of the individuals concerned, as well as any possible relationship between the calcification stage of certain mandibular teeth and the skeletal stage. The constructed tables of the cross–tabulation procedure showed that skeletal and dental maturation increase proportionally. The chi-square test was also performed; it showed that second premolar calcification is independent of skeletal maturation, whereas canine calcification and skeletal maturation are significantly inter-dependent. It should be noted that dental maturation couldn’t constitute the only means for predicting skeletal maturation.
