One of the crucial points of any regulatory framework rests on the institutional design of regulatory bodies and agencies. The main focus of this paper is about the way of functions and enforcements of the broadcasting regulatory authorities are structured, bringing experiences of ten American and European countries. The effort is less for an exhaustive comparative analysis and more for the identification of elements considered relevants, representatives or emblematics of this corpus. Thereby can contribute to the debate and to reformulate the current prevailing regulatory framework in Brazil.
