STRATEGIC ORIENTATION FOR AGRICULTURE IN ROMANIA

After Romania joined the European Union, the competitive pressure on agriculture and the food distribution sector has intensified. Investment for boosting productivity must increase in order for the Romanian products to be competitive from a price standpoint. To a great extent, Romanian agriculture ensures only sustenance. The lack of capital, the reduced size of agricultural businesses, the inefficiency and lack of technology are some of the greatest problems that this economic branch faces. Also, the great number of small farms is a proof of the lack of performance of Romanian agriculture.
