Abstract:

Due to manual feeding of grass carps in aquaculture, digestion problems in this species are developing. Diagnosis and treatment process requires a good knowledge of anatomy of digestive tract and its appendixes. Providing familiarity with different parts of grass carps' digestive tract and their relationship is among the goals of this study. In doing so, twenty grass carps were examined in this study. Using loop, the researchers macroscopically examined the digestive tract's anatomy at first. In order to measure the diameter of different parts of digestive tracts, a digital caliper was used, and the results were analyzed with fed into the 16th version of SPSS software using Paired sample T-test. The results showed distension at the end of esophagus, which was called crop. At the end of esophagus, mucosal folds resemble a plexus at the initial part, and they change into a linear form at the terminal part. The intestine's diameter decreases gradually to a certain point and then becomes steady. The mucosal folds of intestine were transverse and parallel, and these folds were longitudinal at the cloaca. There was no valve or sphincter in the digestive tract. The digestive tract morphology of carps is a species specific whose recognition requires further studies and analysis.
