Characterization and valorization of cell wall polysaccharides of Urginea pancration (Steinh) Phil. from Tessala Mountain (north-west of Algeria)Keywords: Valorization , Urginea pancration (Steinh) Phil. , Cell Wall Polysaccharides. Abstract: As part in valorization of Mediterranean plant species, we have study the variation composition of cell wall polysaccharides of Urginea pancration (Steinh.) Phil. contained in the bulb and foliage. The results of this study reveal a wealth of cellulose from an average of 68.40% and pectin with an average of 11%.The study of the saccharide composition of cellulose by thin layer chromatography revealed the presence of glucose as sugar majority and traces of xylose in both parties analyzed of the species. For hemicelluloses, it indicates the presence of xylose, arabinose and glucose in the leaves, by cons in the bulbs they are composed only of xylose and glucose.
