In the Quran there is lots of knowledge about itself alongside the information about Allah, universe, life, judgment day etc. In different verses of Quran, one can see some other words which point at the purpose of Quran, used instead of the word Quran. For example, the word “al-Dhikr” means as “the reminding the forgetful humankind; the word “al-Furqan” means as the separator of the truth and fallacy and the word “al-Nour” means as the lighter of darkness.This study examines some words used instead of the word Quran, their meanings and their purpose of usage. The best way to understand Quran is to comprehend how Quran introduces itself. The other way is to understand what the Quran is not. There are some phrases in Quran narrating what the Quran is not.
