ONLINE EXAMINATION AND ASSESSMENT FOR UNIVERSITY EXAMS

Examinations play an important role in imparting education and knowledge to students. Examination is an instrument to evaluate the knowledge, understanding and learning of students. The problems faced by a university are to conduct infallible examinations and provide tamper proof certificates. Leakages of question papers defeat the main purpose of examination, exam evaluation i.e. assessing the depth of knowledge and extent of skill acquired by the student. The use of technology in university examination is alternate option to replace traditional examination system. The paper discusses how the online exam is an alternative to traditional university examination and challenges while implementing online examination system.
