Abstract: Nanomaterials have been identified as the prime materials for twenty first century. Size dependence and large surface area of nanomaterials offers a wide range of optical, magnetic, mechanical, thermal etc properties over which the materials can be tuned. In general, the properties in nanomaterials can be tuned by proper choice of materials, their size, shape, surrounding matrix etc.Here some nanomaterials are discussed to illustrate the optical tuning property of nanomaterials. Some applications of such nanomaterials in electronics, chemical sensing, imaging, drug delivery and cancer treatment problems are discussed.
