'EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE OF SCHEDULED CASTE STUDENTS IN RELATION TO SELF CONCEPT'DOI: 10.9780/22315063 Keywords: Emotional Intelligence , self concept . Abstract: Historically, general caste students have a head-start over the scheduled caste students in terms of awareness, academic orientation and drive for academic fulfillment. Unequal schooling has limited the educational opportunities disadvantaged scheduled caste children in India. Objective of the Study: 1.To studies the relationship between emotional intelligence and self-concept of schedule caste male, female student of higher secondary and secondary school. Hypotheses: 1.There is significant difference between the self concepts of scheduled caste male, female students of higher secondary and secondary school having high and low emotional intelligence. Method: In order to achieve the objectives of the study, the ex-post-facto method was used. Sample: About 150 schedule caste male and 144 female students of higher secondary school and 150 schedule caste male and 140 female students of secondary school from Anand district through cluster random sampling. Variable: The study has two variables, namely self concept as the independent variable and emotional intelligence as the dependent variable. Tool Used: The questionnaire was used. Statistical techniques: To test this hypotheses't' test was used. Findings: (1).The level of expectation regarding achievement and aspiration is similar for the male scheduled caste students having high and low emotional intelligence. (2) The level of expectation regarding their achievement is similar for the female schedule caste students having high and low emotional intelligence. (3) The level of expectation regarding their achievement is much higher for the male schedule caste students having high emotional intelligence than for the male schedule caste of the same caste and the same grade but having low emotional intelligence. (4) The level of expectation regarding their achievement is much higher for the female scheduled caste students having high emotional intelligence than for the female students of the same caste and the same grade but having low emotional intelligence.
