Abstract:

Reproductive health indices in most developing countries are still deplorable, less than a decade to the Millennium Development Goals. In Nigeria, as is the case in most developing countries, many factors combine to nurture reproductive ill-health and developmental backwardness. Some of these factors are harmful reproductive health practices such as, early marriages, violence against women, widowhood practices, and female genital mutilation. These are highlighted and suggestions made on how to improve on them in line with the targets of the Millennium Development Goals. [TAF Prev Med Bull 2010; 9(2): 139-144]
