Metadata management a business intelligence

The increasing scope and complexity of the business intelligence solutions evokes the need of various tools aimed at a data management supporting the higher quality of BI projects and applications. The tools based at metadata use have the key role in that field. Processes and rules of metadata management, administration and use during not only BI projects represent metadata management. Its basic part is established as metadata repository including both metadata base and metadata models and software components providing databases definitions and operations with metadata. The paper is focused at the definition and various views on metadata management, metadata repository, approaches to its implementations and experience from projects of that kind.
