El científico y el extraterrestre

Una maniobra muy popular en la contienda de la argumentación académica para fines de demarcación precisa de fronteras epistemológicas entre saberes expertos y conocimientos legos consiste en construir metafóricamente la figura mítico-sagrada del extraterrestre como un modelo asintótico del científico modélico. Apoyándome en esta retórica convencional, planteo aquí examinar con mayor detenimiento los atractivos físicos de tan codiciado tropo científico-ficcional para tantear sus límites últimos como herramienta de investigación de las realidades investigadoras. El trabajo ofrece de este modo una reflexión original sobre el estado actual del negocio de las ciencias sociales internacionales reciclando materiales audiovisuales de procedencia varia: cine y televisión, cámaras visibles y ocultas, realidad y ficción./There’s a popular trick used in the game of scholarly argument to draw the epistemological line between expert knowledge and vulgar acknowledgment. It consists in the metaphorical construction of the mythical-sacred figure of the extraterrestrial as an ideal type of the proficient scientist. Building on this conventional rhetoric, I plan here to inspect in detail the physical appeal of such a cherished science-fiction trope just to explore its ultimate limits as a research tool of the worlds of research. The study thus offers an original take on the present state of the social science global business constructed with recycled audio-visual materials of several sorts: movies and tv programs, visible and hidden camera, reality and fiction.
