The window opening to humanity in Mehmet Izzet's thought: Nationality

Mehmet Izzet played a leading part among the prior names in the development of social sciences in Turkey. His major fields of interest were philosophy, history of philosophy, ethics, sociology, social philosophy and methodology of social sciences. His famous book "Theories of Nationality and a National Life" was of a special importance among his studies.In that book, he demonstrated in an idealist manner that the problem of nationality is oriented toward humanity, by differentiating it from a reductionist approach. This effort of Mehmet Izzet can also be interpreted as an effort to surmount "sociologism" by the help of a "philosophical idealism".
