SOCIALIZATION VIA PLAY

The purpose and definition of play took over as a subject that needs to be investigate and evaluate in so many sciences, and researches about this subject accelerated. According to Huizinga (1995), “Play is older than culture. Culture is born in shape of play and is a game playing all along.” Play phenomenon is one of the most important tools in cultural transfer. From this point of view, it can be said that there are strong relationships between play and socialization which “a mechanism of enabling individual’s accomodation with society which he/she lives and integration with social culture (D nmezler, 1984).” This paper aimed to examine the literature intended for structure and evaluation in the phenomenons of play and socialization and to summarize within the framework of literature studies on the effect of play on socialization.
