BUSINESS Email Exchanges and the Use of politeness formulas in english and romanian

The article presents the use of politeness formulas in business e-mail exchanges contrastively for English and Romanian. Salutations, terms of address, solicitudes, seasonal greetings, complimentary closes and closing formulas are analyzed in email exchanges written in English, respectively in Romanian by employees working in a multinational company. Special attention is paid to the choice of grammatical structures and of vocabulary items used in this type of professional communication.
