For the study is counted with the participation of thirty students enrolled in a basic physics course with calculus on the topic of work, heat and temperature and this has as a prerequisite the differential calculus and integral calculus as a corequisite. A problem that was proposed was to calculate the net work done by an ideal gas, which was decided by the students, this involved the use of differential and integral calculus and in accordance with the resolutions of the problem is set into action the concepts and theorems wrong action and these are mainly presented in the data collection based on the data given in the problem and concentrate more in the domain of differential and integral calculus, as well as the direct application of the equations without understanding the physical phenomenon that involved
