Letti in bronzo. Dal modello ellenistico alla Cisalpina romana Bronze beds. From hellenistic model to the Roman Cisalpine

Il contributo presenta una panoramica generale su una particolare e pregiata classe di arredi domestici quali sono i letti con decorazione in bronzo in età romana. Partendo dai modelli greco-ellenistici e dalla loro introduzione a Roma, ci si sofferma sulla loro tipologia e sugli elementi da cui erano costituiti, per quindi affrontare nello specifico le problematiche inerenti a ritrovamenti di letti in bronzo in Cisalpina. Pezzi eccezionale per completezza e realizzazione sono le gambe di letto tricliniare rinvenute a Modena da una ricca domus della città; tali esemplari, già oggetto di studi ricostruttivi, sono in questa sede esaminati in particolare per la scena plastica che li decorava che presenta l’ immagine di Ercole contro il Centauro. L’ipotesi avanzata è che possa essere una testimonianza della propaganda per immagini di Antonio in un frangente particolare quali le lotte civili che interessarono i territori dell’Italia settentrionale nella tarda repubblica. The paper presents a general overview of a particular class and fine home furnishings such as beds decorated with bronze in the roman age. Starting from the hellenistic and greek models since their introduction in Rome, we focus on types and elements from which they then set up, to address the specific issues related to discovery of a bronze bed in Cisalpine. Exceptional objects s for completeness and achievement are the legs of bed tricliniar found in Modena in a rich domus of the city; such furniture, already the subject of reconstruction studies, are here examined particularly in the plastic scene which they decorated that has the image of Hercules against the Centaur. The hypothesis is that it can be a testimony to the propaganda images of Antonio in a particular juncture that the civil strife that affected the areas of northern Italy in the late Republic.
