Perfil dos pacientes atendidos na Clínica de Odontopediatria do Curso de Odontologia da ULBRA Canoas/RS

The objective of this present study was to characterize the patients profi le carried out in the clinical of Pediatric Dentistry from ULBRA Dental School. The manuals of 454 patients aged 3-12 years old attended during the fi rst semester of 2006, were analyzed. Demographical variations, social-economical, clinics and therapeutic data were collected and organized in a database for a describing statistical analysis. According to the data the mean of sample was age 8.1 years old. Haul of that, 75% of the families were nucleus, 38% earned till two minimum wages, and 50% of the mothers had got 8 years of schooling. Children free from decays represented 17% of the patients. It was verifi ed an average of three visits per patient and the restoration procedures were the most frequent ones, followed by the extraction of deciduous teeth. Pulpectomy indeciduous teeth represented 50% of the pulp interventions, approximately. The characterization of the socialdemographic profi le and the identifi cation of the treatment needs are fundamental for the planning and evaluation of health services.
