Se relevan las fuentes socioprofesionales de la orientación vocacional, en el mundo y en América Latina. Se resalta que la psicología, como ciencia y como profesión, posee vigorosos lazos en esta práctica que, sin embargo, tiende a su emancipación epistémica y práxica en algunas naciones. Se presentan los problemas contemporáneos de la orientación en sus dimensiones económica, política, cultural y profesional. The socio-professional sources of the vocational guidance are reviwed, in the world and in Latin America. It stands out that psychology, as science and as a profession, possesses vigorous links to this practice that, however, tends to its epistemic and praxic emancipation in some nations. The contemporary prob- lems of the guidance are presented in their economic, politics, cultural and pro-fessional dimensions.
