Abstract:

The entire online revolution is because of the growth of networking technologies. We use computer networks to carry out bank transactions, to manage the power grid, to control the transport infrastructure, to fight crime, to buy and sell goods and services and so on. A network is a combination of hardware and software that sends data from one location to another. TCP/IP is a hierarchical protocol made up of interactive modules, each of which provides a specific functionality and is the de facto standard used for networking. The advent and success of the Internet, together with the large-scale deployment of wireless networks, now allows ubiquitous access to communication networks; however, the pervasive access to online services often comes at the expense of security. Most security schemes have been applied to the upper layers of communication networks. Since in a typical wireless communication, transmission of data is over the air, third party receiver(s) may have easy access to the transmitted data. A major problem in security is that the technology is changing so fast that even before one secures one’s IT infrastructure, a new threats has come about , because hackers have founds some new exploits in new technologies that people have started adopting. This Paper gives an overview of the most common problems and other potential problems, such as unauthorized access to the wireless networks and highlights the study of Physical layer security for networking and telecommunications.
