CONTRIBUTION OF WOMEN IN ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES IN RURAL BALOCHISTAN: WORLD SYSTEM ANALYSIS AT MICRO LEVEL IN ANTHROPOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVE

This paper deals with research findings regarding contribution of women in economic activities in the Village Zandra, District Ziarat in the province of Balochistan. It includes both direct and indirect contribution. Women in the village have been contributing in the economy since a long time. Initially they were participating in horticulture and agriculture activities.Their main contribution was coming through indirect sources. During the last 3 decades achange has been witnessed. Now the women are more inclined towards direct sources which include employment sector because more importance is given to the direct wage earning activities. This shift from horticulture to employment sector has brought some changes in theirdaily life. The impact of women employment on their social position and the family life has been discussed in this article. Finally the women’s economic contribution has been analyzed in light of world system theory at micro level. The data presented in this paper has been collected by using qualitative anthropological research techniques.
