THE LIBRARIAN AND THE ADMINISTRATIVE SKILLS: a literature review on the construction of a new profileKeywords: Librarian Manager , Vocational Training , Information Management , Knowledge Management Abstract: This study discusses the issue of social and economic development, the advances ininformation technology and communication,and the needs for new skills that make thelibrarian an increasingly competitiveprofessional in the labor market. The studyincludes, among other things, theinformational trends that led organizations toinvest and seek for information and knowledgeon several fronts, including the Informationand Knowledge Management. With the goal ofadding value to the activities performed bylibrarians, information becomes the main assetfor the qualification and creation of new skills.Aiming at the good performance of libraries,this study aims to verify the administrativetheories combined with the role of the librarianacting in the information and knowledgemanagement, where information is regardedas essential to the proper functioning of anyorganization. Thus, it is necessary theformation of a librarian professionalcompetent, responsible and committed to thequality of their services. However, thelibrarian manager tends to perform virtuallyall base activities of the information andknowledge management mentioned in thetheoretical framework in question, they alsotend to build a creative and dynamicentrepreneurial profile, aiming at a permanentlearning in their area.
