The present research presents the analysis of the representation of Rubem Fonseca concerning last the 24 days of the government Getúlio Vargas in 1954, the novel in August, published in 1990. The article looks for to demonstrate as Literature can be used as historical document, disclosing some aspects of the society of a time, as author thinks this society of which he writes, as its positioning was affected by it and front to the problems for it faced.
