Vocabulário político e ma onaria na Revolu o Pernambucana de 1817

This article try to understand the political vocabulary used by the participants of the 1817 Revolution in Pernambuco, Brazil. The main terms studied are “pátria” (homeland), country and nation. Also, the article focuses on the politics of the natives revolutionaries when they used some political terms to incorporate the Portuguese people that lived in Pernambuco, although, in the first moment, the natives addressed the Portuguese people as enemies. In the same time, the article analyses the connections between the freemasonry and the 1817 Revolution, and the influence of the freemasonry ideas to political terms used.
