This article is a study on the transposition of the dramatic text to the staging. For that, it proposes to follow the ways that led both playwright Jorge Andrade to write Pedreira das Almas, a play from 1958, and director Alberto D’Aversa to make a homonymous spectacle, also in 1958. The research on the creation and transposition process of both of them will permit to understand how a play inspired by the city of S o Tomé das Letras, Minas Gerais, has been taken and re-signified by the modern drama of S o Paulo, which emerged as a novelty then.
