This article aims at examining therelationship between literature and painting,seeking to understand the process ofconstruction of the novel and spacerepresentation of the painting in The picture ofDorian Gray (1891), from the Irish writer OscarWilde, under the influence of the avant-gardemovements that emerged in the nineteenthcentury, especially Impressionism and Fauvism.
