Evaluation of Intracerebral Hemorrhages with Unenhanced CT ScanKeywords: Keyword Abstract: Identification of patients with suspected intracerebral"nhemorrhage (ICH) requires urgent brain imaging."nUnenhanced CT scan is the initial imaging modality"nof choice in suspected ICH patients, because of its"nsensivity, specificity, speed and availability. In patients"nwith ICH we must consider the underlying conditions."nHypertensive hemorrhage usually occurs at the basal"nganglia, and in contrast the amiloid angiopathy"ncommonly occurs in the cortex and subcortical"nregions. In hemorrhagic arteriovenous malformations"nthe precence of calcifications or considerable mass"neffect and edema can suggest an underlying vascular"nlesion. Neoplastic hematomas may have greater"nedema, mass effect or calcifications and in suspicious"ncases contrast enhanced or delayed imaging may be"nnecessary. Ruptured cerebral aneurysms usually cause"nsubarachnoid hemorrhage, but it can be associated"nwith ICH and further evaluation with CT or MR"nangiograghy is recommended. The aim of this article"nwas reviewing the finding associated with ICH that"ncould help the diagnosis of underlying causes of ICH"nin unenhanced CT scan.
