Function for Predicting Shape Diameter of Embolized Coils in Intracranial Aneurysm TreatmentKeywords: Keyword Abstract: Coil embolization is one of the popular treatments"nfor intracranial aneurysm. Proper coil selection is"nimportant to avoid aneurysm recurrence. This paper"nproposes the function for coil selection based on"narteriographic projection images. Coils are indexed"naccording to the order of insertion. The response"nsurface modeling (RSM) is used to model the function"nfor selecting the shape diameter (SD) of the first to"nthe third coil. The length is not considered, since"nphysicians often choose the longest available coils."n61 patients gathered from March, 2005 to July, 2010"nin Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Thailand were"nused for modeling and evaluating. It is found that SD"nof the first coil is the function of major axis length"nand the intracranial aneurysm volume. SD of the"nsecond and the third coil is the function of remaining"ndiameter and remaining volume after the previous coil"nfilling. The incorrect SD prediction had the root mean"nsquared error less than 1 mm.
