COMPARISON OF SOLVENT EXTRACTION, STEAM DISTILLATION AND SUPERCRITICAL FLUID EXTRACTION OF GALBANUM
|
Abstract:
Galbanum latex was extracted by ethanol, acetone, supercritical carbon dioxide and steam distillation . The ethanol and acetone extracts were analyzed by HPLC as well as GC MS. The HPLC chromatograms of the acetone and ethanol extracts were very similar and a total of seventeen consitituents were observed, whereas the GC MS analysis of ethanol extract results in the observance of twenty one constituents. The GC MS analysis of SFE and SD revealed only eight and fourteen constituents respectively. Addition of methanol, to the supercritical fluid, had no effect on either the number or the concentratin of the constituents of SFE extracts.
