Determination of Nervonic Acid in Oral Tonic by GC

A method for determination of nervonic acid in oral tonic has been developed by gas chromatography. The samples were derivatized by BF3--CH3OH. Dinonyl phthalate was used as the internal standard. The calibration curve was linear over a range from 0. 3 g/L to 3 g/L with a correlation coefficient of 0.999 4. The average recovery of the method was 97. 04% and the RSD was 0. 90%. The method has been successfully applied to quality control of nervonic acid in oral tonic.
