Using Inverse Gas Chromatography to Determine Solubility Parameter of Polystyrene
|
Abstract:
The solubility parameter of polystyrene has been determined by inverse gas chromatography. In order to make data processing easier and reduce the error probably resulted from data processing, all experimental data were processed with computer. Using a program designed by ourself, the results will be given after inputting experimental data and physical properties of probes. Everything is calculated with least square method and there needs no drawing. It is found that the polarity of probes has influence on the results. To obtain reliable results, it is suggested to use a probe with polarity similar to that of the sample. Another suggestion based on the results is the experiment can be done under temperatures lower than polymers' glass transition point. In a word, some improvements for the determination are presented.
