Preparation and Application of a New Maleic Styrene Encapsulated Silica Column
|
Abstract:
The use of maleic styrene encapsulated silica for the separation of monovalent and divalent cations in the same ion chromatographic conditions with the mobile phase of 2.0mmol/L tartaric acid ethylenediamine is presented. The preparation conditions of packings were studied. The influences of the maleic anhydride weight, styrene volume, reaction time on the carbon content of packings were discussed. The carbon content of the stationary phases is increased with the increase of the contents of the reactants used and the reaction time, and does not change any more when the reactant contents and the reaction time reach the fixed values. Moreover, the retention time of the solutes is increased with the increase in the hydrolysis degree of maleic anhydride at the surface of the stationary phases. With 0.5mmol/L tartaric acid ethylenediamine as the mobile phase, the boiler water samples from thermal power plant were determined by using this column. The results were the same with those determined by ICP and volumetric analysis methods.
