Abstract:
In orderto makesurewhetherCycas miquelii andC.ferruginea areof thesamespecies, the authorshaveobservedanatomicallythetwospecies.Theresultsshowthattheleafsurfaceof C.miquelii coveredwiththickcuticle.Wallof epidermalcellis thickand arrangedregularlyin one layer.Hypodermalsclerenchymacellsexistintheraisedmidribregionand pinnamargins.Mesophyllconsists of palisadeandspongytissues.Palisadetissueis composedof cylindricalcellsbeingregularlyarranged,beneathadaxialhypodermisandpresentabovethemidrib.Thecellsof spongytissuearedistributedat thetwosidesof theaccessorytransfusiontissue.Crystalcellsarefew.Thephloemlocateson abaxialside andisarrangedinarchshape,whilethexylemon adaxialside.Tracheidsarescattered.Cycas miquelii is obviouslydifferentfromC.ferruginea instructureintransversesection,suchastheshapesofpinnamargin,raisedmidribregionandhypodermalsclerenchymacells.Basedon suchdifferencesbetweenC.miquelii andC.ferruginea,theauthorsconsiderthattheyareseparatespecies.
