APPLICATION OF BAR-TRANSGENIC RICE IN BREEDING FOR HETEROSIS

Abstract:
Threebar-transgenicrices,BengalHu-10,CypressPB-6,andGulfmontas maleparents,were crossedwith6malesterilelines:Zhenshan97A,Bo A,Pei-ai64S,Nanxiang95S,Xi217SandGD1-S.Eightrestorersemasculatedwerecrossedwiththethreeherbicide-resistantsources.Forty-eightF 1 hybrids wereobtainedtotally.The resultsindicatedthatheterosisin theseF 1 hybridswere not obvious.By transferringherbicide(Liberty)-resistantbar gene into conventionalrestorerlines,3restorerlines(Minghui63-B,Ce64-B,andTeqing-B)weredevelopedviacrossing,and5resistantcombinations,i.e Zhenshan97A/Minghui63-B(B 2 F 1 -B),Zhenshan97A/Ce64-B(B 2 F 2 -G),Zhenshan97A/Ce64-B(B 3 F 1 -C),Pei-ai64S/Teqing-B(B 1 F 2 -C),andPei-ai64S/Teqing-B(B 2 F 1 -B),hadbeenbred,whichretainedthesame yieldinglevelof theiroriginalcombinations.Theproblemsof heterosisapplication,andtheprospectof bar-transgenicriceparentsinbreedingforheterosisarediscussed.
