RAPD MAKERS FOR HERMAPHRODITE GENE IN PAPAYA

Abstract:
Bulkedsegregantanalysiswas usedto identifyRAPDmarkerslinkedto thehermaphrodite gene(M 2 )in papaya(Carica papaya L.).DNAbandsamplifiedfrom205random10-merprimers werescreened.Two polymorphicbands,OPQ-07 1800 andOPE-06 1050 ,werefound,whichwerepresentin thehermaphroditebulkedDNAsandabsentin thefemalebulkedDNAs.210individualpapayaplants werethentestedwiththesetwo primers.TheresultsindicatedthattheRAPDmarkers,OPQ-07 1800 and OPE-06 1050 ,weretightlylinkedto M 2 ,whichlocatedat bothsidesof M 2 ,andhavea mapdistanceof4.5 cM and1.9 cM,respectively.
