Investigations on the Enhancement of Aquatic Habitat in Ding-Zi-Lan- Keng Creek
|
Abstract:
A river reach adjacent to the Cin-Shuei Bridge of Ding-Zi-Lan-Keng Creek in Shuang- Si Township, Taipei County was selected as a spot of study. A distance of 300m extended from the Bridge upstream and downstream was taken as a range of field survey and site exploration. Incorporating with a systematic investigation on relevant case histories from worldwide and precisely hydraulic analyses and channel experiment, this study intends to improve the current deficiencies of the river reach, namely, the improper drop of groundsill and the over steep of revetment. To make the hydraulic structures function as effective facilities for disaster prevention, this study develops an arch-shape -combinative drop work and arch-shape-continuous groundsill to mitigate the steepness of river bed. Meanwhile, according to the field observations, the aforementioned designs has effectively enhanced the ecological environment and restored the balance of ecosystem. The conceptual design is also incorporated into the computer simulation techniques to display the design concept more concretely. Eventually, the proposed design method can be used as a reference example for engineering practice.
