STUDY ON THE BALANCE OF SUPPLY AND DEMAND OF TIMBER AND FOREST RESOURCES IN CHINA

Forest resources in China are limited. Over cutting forest resources in China has not only caused constant decrease in the amount of the resources and destroy of eco environment but also decline of timber quality. Based on overall analysis of present situation of forest resources in China, the timber state of supply and demand is studied systematically in terms of production, export and import and consumption. The implementation of natural forest protection project will change the situation of timber supply exceeding demand to timber demand exceeding supply. Therefore, it is necessary to find solutions to the problem by carrying out timber subtitution strategy and energetic breeding forest resources in addition to the enlargement of timber import channel and timber import amount.
