ECOLOGICAL ENVIRONMENT OF GRASSLAND IN THE WEST OF JILIN PROVINCE AND ITS SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
吉林省西部草原生态环境现状与可持续发展

Natural grassland in the west of Jilin province is one of the best grasslands in China. In recent years, however, its ecological environment worsens gradually. For example, degree and area of heavy degenerated grassland increase dramatically; meanwhile, grass yield within this region decreases rapidly. Based on investigation of grassland resources in different periods, influence imposed by natural and human factors upon the ecological environment is examined in this paper. And then, main concern is devoted to comprehensive management of grassland and countermeasures for ecological restoration. It is argued that only by scientific utilization and effective protection of grassland can sustainable development within this region be achieved.
