ANALYSIS ON WORLD FOREST RESOURCES PROTECTION AND CHINA''S FORESTRY DEVELOPMENT POLICIES

Abstract:
According to the latest astatistics of FAO, this paper introduces the world forest area, countries with the greatest available forest resources, and principal reasons for the decline of forest area; and discusses the common strategies of developing artificial forests adopted by various countries in the world to solve the problem of constant decrease of natural forest since many countries have listed energetic development of artificial forest as a fundamental measure to satisfy environmental and timber requirements for the 21st century. The revision of forestry policies and reform of forestry institutions constitute the essential measures undertaken or planned to take by many developing countries or countries in the process of transforming economic systems. The paper also examines the current status of China's forest resources, problems confronting and development strategies. Suggestions are raised in the following aspects: to set up state forest resources compensation system and forest eco benefit compensation system, establish multiple investment mechanism to improve eco environment, regulate forestry policies, and build forest resources and environmental synthetic accounting system.
