ASSESSMENT OF GLOBAL SOIL DEGRADATION

Abstract:
ith rapid world population growth,human-induced soil degradation has been accelerated in the past several decades. As a consequence, the previous local and secondary changes have been converted into a major one of global significance,which is seriously threatening environment for human survival. The paper elucidates the types and extent of and causative factors for current global soil degradation, including soil degradation in China. The aim of the study is to provide a basis for soil managers, decision makers and relevant institutions to the prediction of future changes, prevention and control of soil degradation.
