ON WATER RESOURCE AND FLOOD IN SHANXI PROVINCE
论山西的水资源与洪水

The rainfall is comparatively scarcy with strong evaportranspiration in Shanxi Province owing to the influence of the monsoon climate, geographic position and underlying surface of the earth. This results in apparent differences in the spatial distribution of water resources and rainfall and coexistence of drought and waterlogging at the same season in different regions. Because of insufficient adjustment ability of reservoirs, disasters of drought and waterlogging frequently occurred in history. They should be coped with coordinatively through engineering measures and biological measures as well.
