THICK-BEDDED PEAT RESOURCES AND THEIR EXPLOITATION AND UTILIZATION IN CHINA
|
Abstract:
hick-bedded peat is a kind of mineral resources with vast prospect for future development. Since the 1940s great efforts have been made on production assessment and study of peateries of a considerably thickness and richness in. deposition so as to catering the need for peat survey and the exploitation .n4iijlization for industrial purposes. China abounds in rich peat resources. Although they are in wide distribution, yet peat' accumulations suitable for industrial, production are quite unevenly spread. Morever, great disparities in both quality and production conditions exist. Peat depositions are categorized into buried and exposed types with reserves fluctuating between one thousand tons to one hundred million tons. Peat formations of single-layered and multi--layered include herbaceous' herbaceous-woody, and woody compositions This paper takes peat deposits with an average thickness of a single layer exceeding 3 meters as thick-bedded. Assessment on both quantity and quality are made and countermeasures for exploitation and utilization are proposed.
