INTEGRATED REGIONALIZATION AND ASSESSMENT FOR NATURAL DISASTER IN INNER MONGOLIA

Abstract:
Based on the land use data derived from TM images in 2000 and weather information data for recent 40 years in Inner Mongolia, the main concern of this paper is devoted to natural disaster zoning. In the middle of study, the comprehensive indicators for natural calamity, including indicator as aridity, desertification, water and soil loss, salinization, heaviest snow and frost, are selected and AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) method is applied. According to the degree suffered by natural calamity, the Inner Mongolia region can be divided into five sub-regions with different calamity level. Furthermore, the integrated analysis and assessment of different regions, combined with their natural environment and socio-economic condition, are presented.
