Land Use Patterns in Agricultural Structural Adjustment and Its Influence on Crop Yield:A Case Study in Qu-Zhou County of Hebei Province
|
Abstract:
This paper, taking Qu-Zhou County of Hebei Province as a example, analyzes the land use pattern at micro-and macro-level and its impact on crop production based on the horizontal and vertical comparison of diversity and equilibrium degree of land use structure. Da-Xing County, located in Huang-Huai-Hai Plain, was selected for comparison. The result indicates that the process of agricultural structural adjustment is dominated by farmers and governments, and farmers'choices on land use at micro level are the driving forces for the structural adjustment of agricultural industry. The result of agricultural structural adjustment is reflected through the results of interactions between governmental guidance at macro-level and the farmers' choices at micro-level. Farmers'micro choices lead to the change of land use pattern embodied specifically in the change of area of crop production. Comparative advantage drives the change of land use structure and this change can definitely influence the crop yield. On the basis of analysis result, it is recommended that the government should give greater attentions to farmer's profits and land use selection in agricultural policy making. Farmers should take consideration into the relationship between utilization and maintenance of land resources, relieving the pressure of agro-ecosystem and getting the goal of harmonious development socially, economically and ecologically.
