Plant gene engineering was paid more attention to and resulted in many excited achievements during the past decade. In this paper, significan t progress in molecular breeding of ornamental plants, and the strategies and m et hods of molecular breeding are reviewed. The significance of application and dev eloping molecular breeding in ornamental plants in China is discussed and em phas ized.
