Research progress on changes in pan evaporation

Many research results show that the rate of average pan evaporation for many regions has been steadily decreasing over the past 40 or 50 years. One expectation was that pan evaporation would increase under a warmer climate, paradoxically, observations of pan evaporation show the reverse. The paper summarizes the progress of pan evaporation both at home and abroad. It also sums up the main points of view on the cause of pan evaporation changes. Problems needing further research are put forward.
