Preliminary Study of Organic Pollutants in Air of Guangzhou, Hongkong and Macao
|
Abstract:
Guangzhou, Hongkong and Macao are among the cities in Pearl River Mouth region, where air quality is getting worse in recent years due to rapid development of industry and fast increases of population In these cities, preliminary investigations were carried out into the organics in aerosols and volatile organic compounds in ambient air, the results show that the priority organic pollutants are composed mainly of PAHs and volatile organic compounds, such as phenanthrene, pyrene, fluoranthene, chrysene, benzo(a)pyrene, benzo(e)pyrene, benzoperlene, coronene, BTEX, naphthalene and chlorinated hydrocarbons In terms of biomarkers in the aliphatic and aromatic fraction of the extracts, as well as contaminant assemblages, a brief discussion has been made on the source and fate of the priority organic pollutants
