Abstract:
The longest cold snap since 1981, as well as snowy weather, which began in December 2009 across Europe like Britain, continued into January 2010. On 27 February 2010, a strong Atlantic cyclonic depression named Xynthia tore northeastward across coastal western Europe with hurricane force winds and heavy rains. Pakistan suffered the worst flood for 80 years during the monsoon season. The extreme heat wave accompanied by severe drought led to destructive forest fires in Russia during July and August.
