A SHANGRI-LA STRATEGY FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND ITS PRACTICE IN THE QINGHAI-TIBET PLATEAU
“香格里拉”可持续发展战略与实践

The article briefs the origin of Shangri\|La based on the exploration of the novelistic literature and analysis of geographical setting. It is considered that the Shangri\|La strategy for sustainable development is a special model worthy to be referred to other places of the Qinghai\|Tibet Plateau,even in similar regions of rest of China.The key theme of the strategy, put forward by the government of Zhongdian County,Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Province,aims at energectically developing \!smokeless\" industries by exploiting renewable resources, taking exploitation of hydropower, tourist and biological resources as the foci. On the basis of both resources conservation and eco\|environmental protection, some green and friendly industries should be established so as to boost the local socio\|economy in various areas of the Plateau. The article analyses in detail the implementation and results of the three key engineering projects for the Shangri\|La strategy of the sustainable development in Zhongdian County of Diqing according to aspects of resources conservation, regional development and human behavior of the area. Finally, the perspective scenario is also given.
