Decadal Climate Variation and Inundation over the Changjiang River Basin in 1998
|
Abstract:
Some specific conditions such as anomalous sea surface temperature, snow cover over the Tibetan Plateau and the atmospheric general circultion result in the catastrophic flood over the Changjiang River basin during the summer of 1998, meanwhile, the flood is also due to the climatic features during 1990's to a certain degree. Analysis of summer precipitation in China, winter snow cover over the Tibetan Plateau and the atmospheric general circulation indicates that the decadal climate variation is advantageous to the occurrence of inundation over the Changjiang River basin in 1998.
